OH: U.S. Corrugated Inc. Plans Expansion; Add 100+ Jobs; Invest $25.5M

Packaging firm bringing more than 100 jobs to Lancaster

Construction is scheduled to begin soon in Lancaster for a packaging company's expansion in the city, a move expected to create more than 100 jobs.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority this week approved a five-year, 55 percent tax credit valued at nearly $300,000 for U.S. Corrugated Inc., a privately held corrugated packaging producer that had been considering Lancaster and Pennsylvania for a $25.5 million expansion.

Mike Pettit, the city's economic development director, said the tax credit sealed the deal for the company, which is relocating to Newark, N.J., from Atlanta in an unrelated move.

Following engineering work that's starting right away, groundbreaking on U.S. Corrugated's 300,000-square-foot facility at 1290 Camp Ground Road is set for April with a projected full-production opening of mid-October. About $10 million of the expansion cost covers the facility's construction while the other $15 million will fund equipment.
