MO: Laclede County Approved to Establish Enhanced Enterprise Zone
Gov. Blunt Announces LacledeCounty Approved to Establish Enhanced Enterprise Zone

Gov. Matt Blunt announced that the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) has approved Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) designation for
Laclede County. The designation will allow county officials to continue to move forward in and support of economic development efforts.

Laclede County officials and their economic development partners have worked well together to create jobs and opportunity for area residents,” DED director Greg Steinhoff said. “This Enhanced Enterprise Zone designation will assist those efforts by opening the region to state incentive programs to help attract and retain jobs. I commend area leaders for seeking this designation and we look forward to helping them obtain the job growth goals they have set.”

The Enhanced Enterprise Zone program was implemented in 2004. Enhanced enterprise zones are specified geographic areas designated by local governments and certified by the Department of Economic Development. Zone designation is based on certain demographic criteria, the potential to create sustainable jobs in a targeted industry and a demonstrated impact on local cluster development.
