Schwab to bring 500 jobs
The financial-services firm is consolidating offices in San Francisco and Phoenix for relocation to the metro area.
Charles Schwab plans to bring up to 500 jobs to metro Denver as it consolidates offices from Phoenix and San Francisco and relocates them.
The San Francisco-based financial-services company is searching for about 100,000 square feet of office space in the southeast suburban office market, according to people familiar with the company's plans.
Schwab representatives could not be reached for comment. It is unclear what type of jobs the company would move to the area.
Schwab occupies 270,000 square feet of office space in two buildings at Panorama Corporate Center near Interstate 25 and Dry Creek Road and is looking for additional space in that area. It also has a downtown office.
Bob Whittelsey, principal of Col liers Bennett & Kahnweiler Inc., is representing the company. He declined to comment.
In the late 1980s, when economic-development officials were working to diversify the region's economy, they aggressively targeted financial- services companies, said Tom Clark of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp.
