Town of Vernon
 
Vernon is a great place to do business with a well maintained infrastructure and comprehensive Town services.  Strong business sectors include retail, professional, medical, and commercial – industrial.  It also has farming and horticultural enterprises.  Vernon has desirable and distinct historic, agricultural, urban, suburban, and rural areas with excellent schools, colleges and universities in close proximity.  Easy access provides convenience and readily available amenities with a variety of cultural and recreational activities, goods and services, employment and amusement. 
 
Developers will find that almost any area of Vernon will meet their accessibility and transportation requirements.  Vernon is located midway between New York City and Boston.  Vernon contains 18.4 square miles with major interstate highway I-84 having four interchanges in town.  Accessibility to I-84 and the adjoining interstate network is considered to be superb.   A series of connecting State Routes include Routes 83, 74, 31, and 30.  Vernon has over 100 miles of local roads and more than 20 miles of state highways.  Bradley International Airport is also readily accessible.   
 
With numerous development projects being proposed, Vernon continues to be a successful location.  Approximately 450,000 square feet of retail, office and commercial projects are in planning and development, including new construction, re-use of existing buildings, expansions and improvements.  Over forty new businesses have located here in the past five months.
