AZ: SolarCity Expands with New Phoenix Office & Installation Center

SolarCity Expands in Arizona with New Phoenix Office and Installation Center

Company’s SolarLease can allow Greater Phoenix residents to save money from day one by switching to renewable solar power

SolarCity, a leading provider of solar power system financing, design, installation and support, is expanding its operations in Arizona. The company is transferring regional operations to a new 8,200-square-foot facility in Phoenix next month, which it plans to use as a base to install solar electricity systems for area businesses and residents.

“SolarCity is one of the fastest growing solar power companies in the country, and we’re excited to welcome them to Phoenix,” said Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon. “Their presence will bring new jobs to our area and provide new, affordable renewable energy options that can help protect our residents from rising energy costs.”

As part of its expansion, SolarCity is extending its groundbreaking SolarLease in Greater Phoenix. SolarLease can dramatically reduce the upfront cost of solar installation with a low down payment and monthly payments that are typically less than a resident’s current electric bill. Phoenix-area SolarLease customers whose monthly electricity bills average more than $150 can often begin saving money immediately by switching to solar power. SolarCity also guarantees the amount of electricity output by SolarLease systems, and provides free Internet monitoring and repairs for the full term of the lease through its SolarGuard service.

“SolarCity is an innovative company, and its unique SolarLease program will promote and accelerate the adoption of solar across the region,” said Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) president and CEO Barry Broome. “SolarCity’s entrance into Greater Phoenix is an important part of GPEC’s goal to attract the solar industry.”

“With our sun, Arizona has the potential to be the solar capital of the world,” said Jan Lesher, director of the Arizona Department of Commerce. “We welcome SolarCity to Arizona, a great place for innovative technologies and development of clean energy alternatives. Developing these technologies will diversify our energy base, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and fuel a stronger economy with more good jobs for Arizonans.”

SolarCity is known as an innovator of products and programs designed to make solar power more affordable and easier to use. The company’s community solar programs—which encourage entire communities to install solar power together—have been emulated across the country as a means to increase solar power adoption.

“There is a growing interest in reducing power costs and protecting the environment in Arizona, and with the state’s great natural solar resources, solar power can be a great way to do both at the same time,” said SolarCity CEO Lyndon Rive. “We’re expanding our operations in Greater Phoenix to allow area businesses and residents to save money by switching to clean, solar power.”

SolarCity is currently scheduling free solar consultations in Greater Phoenix. In these sessions, a SolarCity consultant measures a home’s sun exposure and assesses electricity usage and efficiency to provide a customized estimate of potential savings from a switch to solar power. Residents and businesses interested in a no-obligation solar consultation should call 1-888-SOL-CITY (1-888-765-2489) or visit www.solarcity.com.
