Umarex USA announces expansion plans in Fort Smith
Airgun manufacturer will build new facility, add jobs
Umarex USA, the fourth largest airgun manufacturer in the world, announced plans to expands its operations in Fort Smith. The company, currently located in a 30,000-square-foot facility in Fort Smith, will move all of its operations to a new 65,000-square-foot facility on 30 acres at Fort Chaffee (Fort Smith). The company currently employs 22 people and has been in Fort Smith since 2006. Umarex has plans to have a total workforce between 60 to 120 people within three years.
Employees at Umarex’s Fort Smith facility handle product refurbishment, warranty work, airgun enhancement and technical advice.
“After just two years in Fort Smith, Umarex is already prepared to more than double both their workforce and workspace in Arkansas,” Governor Mike Beebe said. “This is the kind of success we work to foster with established businesses throughout our state.”
Umarex’s new facility at Fort Chaffee will have a state-of-the-art distribution center, production and quality testing and a shooting range.
