AK: Eklutna to Develop 100-Acre Industrial Park North of Anchorage
Eklutna to develop 100-acre industrial park north of Anchorage

An Alaska Native village corporation, Eklutna, Inc., will break ground later this year on a 102-acre industrial park 20 miles north of Anchorage. The area has access to roads and a small airport, but its main attraction to tenants will be access to the Alaska Railroad and ground space to store equipment and materials, according to Curtis McQueen, Eklutna's chief executive officer. Eklutna will also pursue designation of the new industrial park as a foreign-trade zone, an agreement that allows firms to store imported materials or equipment temporarily without paying customs duties. Existing designated foreign-trade zones in Anchorage include the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and the Port of Anchorage.
