Pennsylvania Governor Rendell Says New Facility Will Create 300 Jobs in York County
JACKSON TWP, Pa., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today announced that state investments will help a leading personal care, household and specialty product manufacturer relocate some operations from New Jersey to York County, bringing at least 300 jobs to the area.
Church & Dwight - a manufacturer of consumer products, including household cleaners and deodorizers, oral care products, and the world-famous Arm & Hammer line of products - will build a 1.1-million-square-foot facility on roughly 232 acres in Jackson Township. The facility will produce Arm & Hammer laundry detergent and serve as a major distribution center for all Church & Dwight consumer products for the eastern United States. The $150 million project is expected to be completed in late 2009.
"Church & Dwight considered more than 35 other sites in six states for this project. It doesn't get much more competitive than that," said Governor Rendell. "The fact that the company chose to relocate to Jackson Township speaks very highly about the workforce in York County and our economic development efforts that have made Pennsylvania such an attractive destination for manufacturers."
"Our aggressive economic development efforts have made a significant and positive impact in York County, where 18,600 new jobs have been created since 2003," the Governor said. "During that period, our Governor's Action Team successfully completed 26 projects in the county, creating more than 3,000 jobs and leveraging more than $280 million in private investment."
