Sep 20, 2016

Governor Rick Scott along with the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) and dignitaries, celebrated the opening of Embraer’s fourth major facility in Brevard County today, during a ceremony at the 50,000 square foot Embraer Aero Seating Technologies (EAST) in Titusville.

Premium seating solutions for various Embraer commercial and executive jet products will be designed, developed and produced at this new facility. This latest operation is expected to bring150 new jobs to the north Brevard area with an average wage of $48,000 annually.

Governor Scott said, “Embraer’s new facility and their creation of 150 new jobs in Titusville is great news for Florida families. It is exciting that they have many projects in Brevard County and have created over 1,000 jobs throughout Florida. We will continue to keep working to make Florida the most business friendly state by cutting taxes and eliminating burdensome regulations.”

“Having spent nearly 50 years designing and developing aircraft for various markets, Embraer recognizes the distinct importance of the aircraft seat, the ultimate customer touch point. That’s why we made the strategic decision to bring this expertise in-house. Embraer customers will soon enjoy the most advanced aircraft seating solutions in the industry, manufactured right here in Titusville, Florida,” said Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, Embraer President & CEO.

In 2008 Embraer made the decision to build a presence in Brevard County with the announcement of their Executive Jets Customer Center at the Orlando-Melbourne International Airport. Since then, the EDC along with state and local partners worked diligently with the company as they expanded their footprint to include EAST manufacturing facility in Titusville.

“I want to thank Embraer for their continued growth and commitment to Florida,” said Crystal Sircy, Executive Vice President and COO of Enterprise Florida, Inc. “When you have a global leader like Embraer consistently selecting your state for these types of job creation projects, it helps us demonstrate Florida’s position as a leader in the aerospace and aviation industry.”

“Embraer’s fourth major capital investment project in Brevard County is a testament to our thriving business climate,” stated Jim Barfield, District 2, commissioner and chairman of the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners, “The company’s repeated selection of Brevard County advances our leadership role in the aerospace sector.”

“Embraer continues to invest in our community amid a competitive market,” stated Lynda Weatherman, president and CEO of the EDC of Florida’s Space Coast. “To remain a global leader in business attraction and retention, we cannot be complacent. When we remain vigilant in our approach the results of our efforts are realized when companies like Embraer bring economic growth to our community.”

Embraer’s Aero Seating Technologies Facility was one of the initial projects supported by the North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ).

“With the retirement of the shuttle program, our region needed a competitive tool that would enable us to achieve a true renaissance,” stated Brevard County Commissioner District 1 Robin Fisher. “The North Brevard Economic Development Zone was created to enhance business investment in the north Brevard area. To see a company like Embraer, establish a presence in Titusville is the intentional result of strategy, diligence and vision.” Fisher continued, “You will see more of this type of collaboration coming from north Brevard. I’m proud to say it’s working just as it was designed to. This project is Your Zone Dollars at Work.”

In addition to producing seating for current Embraer product lines, EAST will also supply the first class seats of the company’s next generation family of commercial aircraft, the E-Jets E2. Moreover, Embraer Aircraft Seating Technologies has the capability of providing seating solutions for other aircraft platforms.
