MD: Transteck, Inc. to Expand in Cecil County, Add 40-60 Jobs

Aug 18, 2016

Transteck, Inc., a freightliner dealership with 13 locations in the Mid-Atlantic region, announced its expansion to 189 Belle Hill Road in Elkton, MD. The organization will occupy a 50,000 square foot facility on 7.75 acres just seconds from Interstate 95, and bring 40 to 60 new jobs to Cecil County. “Our company is growing at a rapid pace and we’re excited to be able to have this opportunity to service some of our current customers, as well as future customers, over a wider area,” said Larry Hufford, dealer principal of Transteck.

At its Cecil County location, the company plans to carry a large inventory of new and used heavy/medium-duty commercial trucks for sale. The parts department will carry approximately a million dollars of inventory of Freightliner OEM parts as well as a full line of aftermarket parts for most makes. The service department will offer Express Assessment with the goal of becoming a certified member of the Elite Support Network of Dealerships in the first year of operation. This dealership will be a certified warranty center for Freightliner, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Meritor and Eaton, along with providing full maintenance and repair service for all brands of commercial and large recreational vehicles. All technicians will be factory trained and tooled with the latest diagnostic equipment.

In December of 1999, Transteck opened its first Freightliner Dealership located in Harrisburg, PA. Since then the company has increased its dealership family to include 13 full service truck dealerships, three dedicated truck and trailer collision centers, and a truck leasing/rental operation serving Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

With Freightliner dominating the Heavy Duty truck market at over 40 percent market share, demand for more dealerships is at an all-time high. “We are excited to be able to support the local economy in Elkton," said Tim Gates, service director at Transteck.

The full-service dealership is eyeing a September 2016 opening. "We are pleased to welcome Transteck to our community. Their commitment is a testament to the economic opportunity that Cecil County represents in the Mid-Atlantic region," stated Lisa Webb, Cecil County director of economic development.
