MS: Leggett & Platt Invests in Tupelo, Creating 25 Jobs

Jul 21, 2016

Leggett & Platt, Incorporated, manufacturer of products for a diverse group of industries, is expanding operations in Tupelo, Mississippi, investing $967,000 and creating 25 new jobs.

“Job creation in today’s demanding marketplace is important to growing a strong economy and building vibrant communities,” Governor Phil Bryant said. “I appreciate the company for choosing to expand in Tupelo and for creating new job opportunities.”

Leggett & Platt’s expansion supports the launch of a new business venture, which will manufacture and distribute products for the mattress industry. The company’s business segments include residential furnishings, industrial materials, commercial products and specialized products.

“We now have more than 600 employee partners living and working in the Tupelo area,” said Leggett & Platt Vice President and President of the Bedding Group Eric Rhea. “We are proud to continue supporting the local economy with a business venture that will create new jobs and serve a growing need in the marketplace.”

Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance for building improvements.

“MDA is pleased to support Leggett & Platt as the company grows in North Mississippi and creates new career opportunities for the people of Tupelo and Lee County,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We appreciate our partners at the Community Development Foundation who, along with the MDA team, helped make this expansion possible.”

In addition to its Tupelo facilities, Leggett & Platt has operations in Houston and Saltillo, Mississippi.
