TN: Aldelano Solar Cold Chain Solutions to Locate R&D & Mfg in Jackson

Aug 31, 2016

Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd along with Aldelano Solar Cold Chain Solutions officials announced the company will locate a new research and development and manufacturing facility in Jackson. The solar powered products manufacturer will invest $1.5 million to update an existing space in Madison County and create 68 new jobs.

“I want to thank Aldelano for choosing to locate its new manufacturing and R&D facility in Jackson,” Boyd said. “In Tennessee, advanced manufacturing job creation far outpaces national growth, at 27.1 percent job growth in Tennessee compared to 8.7 percent nationally. We are pleased that Aldelano is creating even more jobs in this sector, and we welcome them to Team Tennessee.”

Aldelano specializes in developing state-of-the-art solar powered products including portable cold storage as well as water and ice making technology, which produce clean drinking water and ice by pulling the moisture from the air.

“We’re very excited to begin manufacturing the Solar ColdBox in Jackson, Tennessee. This has been our home for other successful ventures for the past 26 years. The wonderful resources and bright minds Jackson has to offer have made it a natural fit to become the hub for the research and development of our new solar products," Aldelano Solar Cold Chain Solutions CEO Al Hollingsworth said. “The Solar ColdBox with its water-making and ice-making capabilities has many applications for use primarily in areas of the world that do not have access to clean water or cold storage. We are equally excited to help bring new jobs to the state of Tennessee and thank the state, the city of Jackson, and Madison County for their support.”

Aldelano will manufacture, create and test its new product line in Jackson. Updates to the existing facility include installing a temperature controlled paint chamber as well as a testing chamber that will simulate controlled weather conditions.

“We are proud of Aldelano’s innovative, renewable power source which reaches far beyond Jackson to touch lives throughout the world,” Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist said. “Aldelano’s long history in Jackson not only shows its commitment to our community’s growth and success, but its service to humanity.”

“This new technology from Aldelano shows its love for society and the viability of our workforce and community to the world,” Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris said. “We are proud to have Aldelano as a longstanding member of the Jackson-Madison County area. This innovation will provide sustainability surpassing economic dimensions.”

Jackson and Madison County are represented by Sen. Ed Jackson (R – Jackson), Rep. Jimmy Eldridge (R – Jackson) and Rep. Johnny Shaw (D – Bolivar) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
