Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Escue Wood Treated Products, LLC officials announced the company will build a new manufacturing facility in Milan. The pressure treated wood manufacturer will invest $3.3 million and create 100 new jobs in Gibson County.

“The manufacturing sector is one of Tennessee’s strongest industries, with one out of every eight Tennesseans working in manufacturing,” Haslam said. “I want to thank Escue for continuing to strengthen the manufacturing industry in our state by locating its new manufacturing facility in Milan and creating 100 new jobs in Gibson County. With this announcement, we are one step closer to our goal of making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”

“I want to thank Escue Wood for creating 100 new jobs and investing over $3 million in Milan,” Rolfe said. “With this investment, the manufacturing sector in Tennessee will continue to grow and excel in our state and I appreciate Escue for taking advantage of our strong manufacturing sector and choosing to locate new operations in Gibson County.”

Escue Wood is one of the leading manufacturers of treated southern yellow pine wood. Founded in 2013, the company’s wood products are manufactured in Milan and distributed in five states.

“We appreciate the State of Tennessee and the Department of Economic Community Development for assisting us on this project,” Escue Wood Vice President Nathan Escue said. “This new location will provide us with the opportunity to expand economic growth in West Tennessee. I would personally like to thank Commissioner Rolfe and his staff for assisting us with this project.”

Escue Wood plans to construct and operate its new facility at 7095 Telecom Drive in Milan. The new manufacturing operations will be capable of producing 60 million board feet of treated pine lumber per year.

Local officials thanked Escue Wood for its commitment to Gibson County.

“This is an exciting day for the city of Milan,” Milan Mayor BW Beasley said. “Escue Wood is investing in the community and creating new jobs that will help grow the Milan economy. The city of Milan appreciates the contribution the Escue family and Escue Wood employees are making in our community. We also greatly appreciate TNECD and their significant assistance with the project.”

“I am excited that Escue Wood has located in Milan and will be creating new jobs,” Gibson County Mayor Tom Witherspoon said. “With the improving economy, the wood treatment business is booming and I want to thank the Escue family for growing its company in Milan and Gibson County.”

Milan and Gibson County are represented by Sen. John Stevens (R - Huntingdon) and Rep. Curtis Halford (R - Dyer) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
