PA: Global Data Consultants to Buy & Renovate Facility, Hire 150, Retain 178

Nov 21, 2014

Governor Tom Corbett announced that Global Data Consultants, LLC (GDC), an information technology services firm, will purchase and renovate their current site in Chambersburg to support 150 jobs in Franklin County.

“We are building a stronger Pennsylvania where businesses are growing and creating jobs,” Gov. Corbett said. “We are thrilled to partner with Global Data Consultants to bring new jobs and save existing jobs in the region.”

GDC will purchase and renovate a 27,000-square-foot facility it is currently leasing in order to establish it as the company’s permanent corporate headquarters in Chambersburg, Franklin County. The company plans to make a $2.2 million investment at the location and is expected to create 150 new jobs and retain 178 more positions over the next three years.

GDC received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development, including a $300,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant that facilitates investment and job creation, $300,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits and $67,500 grant for Guaranteed Free Training that will be used to train the expanding workforce.

The company also was approved to receive an $870,000 loan from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority.

“We are very excited about the partnership with the Department of Community and Economic Development. The additional funding allows us to maintain our corporate presence in Franklin County and bring highly desirable and diversified employment options to the region,” said Gregory Courtney, GDC’s Principal and CEO. “By locating our company headquarters and operation centers in South Central PA, we are able to leverage our proximity to population centers and transportation hubs.  This centralized location keeps our fixed costs manageable which in turn provides our customers with cost-competitive IT services. We are very thankful for the success we have cultivated over the last 20 years and look forward to building a stronger Pennsylvania as our company continues to grow in the decades to follow.”

The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, an experienced group of economic development professionals who report directly to the Governor and work with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania in collaboration with Franklin County Area Development Corporation.

Founded in 1995 the information technology services firm, GDC provides services in the areas of application development, networking and infrastructure, desktop support, project management and other ITS-related areas.
