Feb 08, 2009

Spring Dynamics, Inc., an Almont, Michigan-based manufacturer of custom precision springs for the automotive industry, announced that it has selected Harlingen, Texas as the site for a new manufacturing facility.

Spring Dynamics will lease a 31,411 square foot facility at 710 North Commerce in Harlingen as the location for its second manufacturing plant. Spring Dynamics plans to employ 35 people at the plant by the end of 2013.

Established in 1985, Spring Dynamics, Inc. has developed a reputation as a leading manufacturer of custom precision springs. They currently operate a spring manufacturing facility in Almont, Michigan where more than forty people are employed.

Spring Dynamics plans to supply their current customers in Matamoros, as well as develop new business with other maquiladoras in Matamoros and Reynosa from the new facility. A maquiladora is defined as a factory that imports materials and equipment on a duty-free and tariff-free basis for assembly or manufacturing and then exports the assembled product; usually back to the originating country. "Harlingen is an excellent location from which to serve our growing customer base," according to Thomas A. Boles, president of Spring Dynamics. "The central location in the Rio Grande Valley, the proximity to current and potential customers in Mexico and Texas, the ability to provide improved customer service and the high quality labor force make Harlingen an easy choice," Boles stated.

Boles praised the assistance Spring Dynamics received from the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (HEDC). "From reviewing potential locations to finding vendors or suppliers, to establishing training programs, the HEDC was there to help us every step of the way and was a major factor in our decision to locate in Harlingen," Boles concluded.

"We’re very pleased that a company of the quality of Spring Dynamics has selected Harlingen for its new manufacturing operation," said Armando Elizarde, President of the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation.

"Their decision to locate here validates Harlingen as a prime location for new manufacturing facilities," Elizarde concluded.

Construction to remodel the new facility will begin in January. Spring Dynamics hopes to begin operations in within 90 days.

Harlingen, Texas is located at the "Crossroads of the Rio Grande Valley," a gateway to international trade. It is the perfect location from which to serve the 247 maquiladoras in Matamoros and Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
