Governor Gary R. Herbert

Gary R. Herbert is Utah's 17th Governor. Prior to becoming Governor he served as Lieutenant Governor for nearly five years and Utah County Commissioner for 14 years.

Under Governor Herbert's leadership, Utah has been recognized as one of the "Best Managed States" and "Most Fiscally Fit" states. Utah has also been declared the "Best State for Business and Careers" by Forbes magazine. The Governor currently serves as the Chair of the Economic Development and Commerce (EDC) Committee of the National Governors Association.

Governor Herbert met his wife, Jeanette Snelson, while attending Brigham Young University. Shortly after their marriage, the Governor joined the Utah National Guard and served for six years. After his military service, the Governor founded Herbert & Associates Realtors. He and Jeanette also began a child care service, The Kids Connection, which they operated for 23 years. The Herberts have six children.
