Governor John Bel Edwards

Governor John Bel Edwards grew up in Louisiana. With four Tangipahoa Parish sheriffs in his lineage, he learned the importance of public service. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served eight years as an active-duty Airborne Ranger with the U.S. Army. He graduated Order of the Coif from the LSU Law Center and set up a civil law practice. In 2008, he was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives from District 72, where he served for eight years until he was elected Louisiana’s 56th governor in November 2015.
