Bill Lee, Deputy Gov. and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter and Prysmian officials announced the company will expand operations in Madison County. Through the project, Prysmian will create 100 new jobs and invest $100 million to renovate and double the size of its current facility. This announcement marks the second expansion for Prysmian in Jackson since its 2018 acquisition of General Cable, which first established operations in Jackson in 1991. Additionally, the company plans to hold a groundbreaking celebration for the Jackson expansion on Oct. 15, 2026, and anticipates construction to be complete in approximately 20 months. Founded in the late 1800s, Prysmian has grown to become one of the world’s largest cable and fiber manufacturers. The company is headquartered in Milan, Italy, with its North American headquarters in Kentucky, and operates on six continents and in more than 50 countries. Its global footprint includes 109 manufacturing plants, 30 research and development centers and more than 34,000 employees worldwide. Prysmian has a strong presence in North America with more than 50 locations and 9,000 associates in the region. Italy is one of Tennessee’s top partners for foreign direct investment (FDI) with 35 Italian companies across the state that account for more than 3,000 jobs and $1 billion in capital investment. “Global companies like Prysmian continue to choose Tennessee because of our strong business climate and highly skilled workforce.
