Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear joined local officials and leadership from MMY US, a manufacturer of modular housing units, to celebrate the company’s $6.1 million investment to locate in West Louisville, a project that will create 73 full-time jobs at an average wage of $30 per hour and a minimum of $23 per hour – both before benefits – with potential for future investment and job creation.

“Congratulations to MMY US and to the West Louisville community for adding yet another quality employer for Kentucky’s talented workforce,” said Gov. Beshear. “The commonwealth continues to attract companies that are creating great jobs and providing valuable resources for our residents, and MMY US is a prime example of that. I’m happy to welcome MMY US to the commonwealth and look forward to a long, successful partnership here.”

United Kingdom-based MMY Group will open its first U.S. location in an existing 100,000-square-foot industrial building at 1344 Beech Street in the Parkland neighborhood. The manufacturer will produce up to 500 housing units per year with potential for future growth. Louisville Metro Government has awarded MMY US a $500,000 grant to support the project.

“The opening of this advanced modular manufacturing facility will signify a major acceleration in Kentucky’s construction industry and will position Kentucky as one of the world’s most technologically advanced players in modern methods of construction,” said MMY US CEO Robin Bartram-Brown. “At MMY US, we believe in fair compensation for hard work, delivering an average wage of $30/hour to ensure our staff earns a decent living wage. Diverse and inclusive teams lead to superior decision-making, which benefits everyone. At MMY US, we are dedicated to fostering a workplace that is both diverse and equitable, ensuring our workforce mirrors the communities we are a part of.”

MMY US has committed to hiring the majority of its workforce from Louisville, with preference given to applicants from the nine neighborhoods of West Louisville and hiring a majority of low- to moderate-income individuals. Additionally, the company will provide onsite child care for working parents.

Since accepting bookings six months ago, MMY US has secured a full production pipeline with $40 million in orders, supporting affordable housing and market-rate projects. MMY US’s production capacities are fully booked until the end of the year, and the company is now accepting reservations for 2025.

MMY US will deliver modular homes in 16 weeks, five times faster than traditional construction. MMY US is part of modular strategy consultancy MMY Global, which has pioneered modular construction globally since 2013. MMY Global clients include EY, PwC, England’s National Health Service and RAM-H.

Rocky Adkins, Senior Advisor to Gov. Beshear and a former Kentucky representative, praised the project’s impact on the community and local workforce: “It’s a great day to be in Kentucky as we open the doors to MMY US, which is creating well-paying jobs for the West Louisville community and further securing the commonwealth as a leader in manufacturing. On behalf of Team Kentucky, I want to thank the leaders of MMY for choosing Louisville because there is no stronger workforce than Kentucky’s, and I know we’ll see successes in the years to come.”

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg spoke on the benefits of locating in West Louisville: “From delivering new housing solutions to creating good-paying jobs with benefits like child care, MMY is making a game-changing investment in West Louisville that will position our city to lead. West Louisville will now be the national epicenter of modular housing construction, and I am so grateful to MMY leaders for their commitment to Louisville, our people and our future.”
