Gov. Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. was elected as the 49th Governor of the State of Indiana in 2004. He is a former president of Eli Lilly & Company’s North American Operations and CEO of the Hudson Institute. Upon taking office, Governor Daniels identified efficiencies and cost savings, leading Indiana to its first balanced budget in eight years. Daniels, a graduate of Princeton and Georgetown universities, was re-elected to a second term in 2008.
