MS: Governor and von Drehle Celebrate Co.’s Natchez Presence, 100 Jobs

Feb 06, 2013

Governor Phil Bryant, von Drehle officials and local officials held an announcement event  to celebrate the company’s recent decision to locate manufacturing operations in Natchez, Miss. In January, von Drehle announced it would locate paper product manufacturing operations in the former Mississippi River Pulp facility. The project is creating a minimum of 100 new jobs.

The company provides paper products to commercial and industrial consumers nationwide. From its Natchez location, the company intends to manufacture the paper products formerly produced by Mississippi River Pulp, as well as its own product lines.

“I am proud to officially welcome von Drehle to Natchez and as the newest addition to Mississippi’s business community,” Governor Bryant said. “I am grateful to the company for placing its confidence in our business climate and trust in our workers, and I appreciate everyone who worked so hard to bring von Drehle to our state. The company’s decision to locate here once again serves as proof that ‘Mississippi Works!’”

"We are thankful of the time, attention and support the people of Natchez and Mississippi have extended to us. We plan this site to be an important part of our future and believe the people in and around Natchez will be a great fit for our company," said Randy Bergman, chief operating officer of the von Drehle Corporation.

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) assisted von Drehle with this project, providing guidance on available tax incentives.  In addition, Adams County is providing support for this project.

“Von Drehle’s decision to locate its operations in Natchez is great news not only for the city and Adams County, but for the entire state of Mississippi, and we are proud to have played a role in this project,” said Brent Christensen, MDA executive director. “I thank our friends at Natchez Inc. who worked to bring von Drehle to Mississippi, and I wish the company much success at its new Natchez location.”

Established in 1974, von Drehle maintains manufacturing operations in North Carolina, Nevada and Tennessee. Through an international network of more than 400 distributor partners, the Hickory, N.C.-based company sells towel, tissue and dispenser products to industrial, commercial and institutional distributors, contract cleaners and building-maintenance service providers.  To learn more, visit von Drehle's website at www.vondrehle.com.
