Gov. Jack Dalrymple recently joined officials from Microsoft and Hitachi Consulting to announce a Fargo-based business venture between the technology companies that will create new North Dakota jobs and business opportunities.

"This Fargo-based venture will create new jobs and great opportunities for business growth in North Dakota," Dalrymple said. The decision by Microsoft and Hitachi Consulting to expand their business relationship in Fargo is a testament to North Dakota's strong business climate and our quality workforce."

From Microsoft's Fargo campus, Hitachi Consulting employees will supplement Microsoft Business Solutions' Information Technology (IT) team. Under the agreement, Hitachi Consulting will establish a technical development center that will provide sourcing, program management, program development and testing for Microsoft Business Solutions' IT organization.

Mike Gillis, senior vice president of Hitachi Consulting's Microsoft Dynamics practice, credited North Dakota's business-friendly environment and educated workforce for playing a key role in the decision to establish a Fargo-based development center.

In the near term, Hitachi Consulting employees will work with Microsoft's IT team from Microsoft's Fargo campus. Long-term plans are for Hitachi Consulting's Fargo-based team to move into their own location to further develop their business by servicing other world-wide customers.

"We appreciate the commitment that Microsoft and Hitachi Consulting have made to Fargo and North Dakota," Dalrymple said. " In return, Microsoft and Hitachi Consulting will benefit from a growing economy, low taxes, a pro-business climate, the most responsive state government anywhere a quality workforce that is second to none."
