Demand for fully remote jobs continues to climb, with 85% of people describing fully remote work as “the most important factor in a job,” a 4% increase over 2024. At the same time, fully remote job postings have increased by 3% over the last several months, with even faster growth across select career paths. To support remote job seekers, FlexJobs® released the 15 fastest-growing career fields for fully remote work in 2026.
Through an analysis of more than 60 career categories in its database, FlexJobs compared the total number of 100% remote job postings between January 1 and December 31, 2025, to determine the emerging remote career categories with at least 19% or more growth over the past year.
FlexJobs defines a “fully remote job” as any professional-level role that allows the worker to perform their job entirely from home. The top 15 career categories are ranked in order from highest to lowest growth in the availability of remote opportunities.
Engineering
Administrative
Sales
Client Services
Banking
Social Media
Mental Health
Insurance
Operations
Nursing
Legal
Account Management
Education & Training
Communications
HR & Recruiting
Of the fast-growing career categories, engineering, administrative, and sales experienced the most growth, with each of the top three career fields nearly doubling in fully remote job postings during 2025.
Social media, insurance, legal, and account management career categories closely followed, expanding in remote job opportunities by 30% or more. Up from previous years, fields like education and training, communications, and HR and recruiting experienced more modest but steady growth (19%).
FlexJobs’ ranking of the fastest growing remote career fields excludes the industries that routinely lead the work-from-home job marketplace, such as computer and IT, customer service, and project management. Instead, the list highlights the emerging remote industries to demonstrate the varied career opportunities as the work-from-home landscape continues to evolve.
“Remote work continues to expand beyond tech-centered roles,” said Toni Frana, Career Expert Manager at FlexJobs. “In fact, we’re seeing steady growth in industries like engineering and sales, as well as traditionally slower-moving fields like HR. This is a promising sign that the remote job market is still evolving in 2026 and creating new pathways for workers across different industries.”
