TN: Delek US Holdings to Expand HQ in Middle Tennessee, Hire 175
26 Jan, 2018
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Delek US Holdings, Inc. officials announced that the energy company plans to expand its headquarters operation in Middle Tennessee.
Delek, a Fortune 500 company with assets in petroleum refining, logistics, retail convenience stores, asphalt and renewables, will invest $4 million and create 175 jobs in Middle Tennessee as part of the expansion.
“The growth of one of Tennessee’s leading Fortune 500 companies is welcome news for our state and underscores the strong atmosphere of job growth we’ve successfully encouraged in Tennessee,” Haslam said. “Delek’s creation of 175 well-paying jobs will help put more income in the pockets of hard working Tennesseans and brings us one step closer to making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high-quality jobs.”
“We are constantly looking to attract more high-quality job opportunities for Tennesseans,” Rolfe said. “Delek’s decision to expand its headquarters in Middle Tennessee promises to do just that. I’d like to thank Delek for its continued investment in the Middle Tennessee region and its commitment to create 175 high-quality jobs in the area.”
In July 2017, Brentwood-based Delek closed on its acquisition of Alon USA Energy, Inc. Delek plans to keep the corporate headquarters in Middle Tennessee and expand its footprint in the area over the next few years.
“We are excited about our growth following the acquisition of Alon USA in July,” Uzi Yemin, chairman, president and CEO of Delek US, said. “As we add these jobs in the future it will support our larger organization and provide additional employment growth in Middle Tennessee. The greater Nashville area has been home to our corporate headquarters since 2001, and we look forward to continuing to support this area in the future.”
Founded in 2001, Delek operates four inland refineries with a combined production capacity of 302,000 barrels per day. Delek’s logistics operation supports its refining segment as well as third parties, transporting and storing both crude oil and refined production in the Southeast U.S. and Texas.
The company also markets asphalt product formulations through its operations and operates plants in Texas and Arkansas that produce biodiesel fuels that are used in refining operations and by third parties. In addition, Delek has a renewable diesel facility in California and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in Texas and New Mexico.
“The creation of 175 new jobs will be a significant difference for the people of Brentwood and its surrounding areas,” Brentwood Mayor Jill Burgin said.
“This expansion shows yet again that our truly excellent school systems and thriving economy are making Williamson County the premier location for corporate headquarters,” Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson said.
“Delek is such a dynamic and successful part of our growing business community,” Elizabeth McCreary, chief economic development officer for Williamson, Inc., said. “The fact that our wonderful existing businesses like Delek continue to reinvest and expand in the community speaks to our high quality of life and talented workforce.”
“TVA and Nashville Electric Service congratulate Delek US Holdings on its decision to expand in Middle Tennessee,” TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley said. “Helping foster growth in our region is fundamental to TVA’s mission of service, and we are proud to partner with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to help further that mission.”
Brentwood and Williamson County are represented by Sen. Jack Johnson (R – Franklin), Rep. Glen Casada (R – Franklin), Rep. Charles Sargent (R – Franklin) and Rep. Sam Whitson (R – Franklin) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
