ID: Transystems to Build Manufacturing Facility in Rupert

Apr 14, 2016

Transystems LLC, a bulk commodities transportation company, has announced that it will build a new trailer manufacturing facility in southern Idaho’s City of Rupert.  The company will invest over $1 million to acquire and renovate an old industrial building.

Transystems will build new office space and bring in state-of-the-art metal fabrication equipment to manufacture specialized truck trailers for agriculture commodity transportation.  Renovations will begin in the next two weeks and operations are slated to begin this summer.

“We are excited about the expansion of our manufacturing project in Rupert, said Errol Rice, Transystems’ executive vice president of strategic development.  “We have built trailers for our own use for nearly a decade and have reached the point of needing to upgrade our facility to match our production needs.  We started building our own trailers to better match our customers’ needs and expect that the new Rupert facility will have a positive impact on the quality and quantity of trailers we produce each year.  Aside from the new facility, we also appreciate the support we have received so far from the city and look forward to being able to expand our regional footprint,” he said.

“We are thrilled to welcome Transystems to Rupert,” said Kelly Anthon, Rupert city administrator who has been working to attract the business to Rupert for about one year.  “This business is a great addition to our region’s growing hub for transportation companies. Transystems is a great corporate partner and will bring more competitive wages and benefits to our region.  The new manufacturing facility is also a perfect fit for southern Idaho’s large agriculture production and processing sector.  Transystems’ announcement in Rupert reflects the positive changes we’re seeing in our community,” Anthon said.

Transystems’ other local location in the nearby City of Twin Falls will continue to support the transportation needs of their largest Idaho customer, Amalgamated Sugar.

“This will be our fifth Idaho location,” Rice said.  “The new Rupert location will allow us to better serve our local customers as well as innovate more quickly on new trailer designs and other support and safety equipment.”
