UT: PSC, a Federal Agency, Opens Satellite Office in Salt Lake City, Hiring 100

The Program Support Center (PSC), the shared services agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), has found a new home in Salt Lake City. The agency hosted a celebratory ribbon cutting today with Deputy Assistant Secretary Paul S. Bartley, Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert and former HHS Secretary Michael O. Leavitt at the Frank E. Moss Courthouse.
“This is a double win for Utah,” Governor Herbert said. “We’re thrilled that the Program Support Center recognized our state’s potential in both workforce and location possibilities. The PSC will create high quality jobs for our talented workers, and it will lead in the restoration and utilization of one of our beloved historic buildings. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve as home to an important agency and look forward to building a wonderful relationship with them.”
Just recently celebrating its 20th anniversary, the PSC is the largest multi-function shared service provider to the federal government. Along with its services to HHS, PSC serves every federal agency, from the Department of Justice to the Social Security Administration. PSC provides essential functions necessary for agency operations. These supporting functions include accounting, supply chain management, call centers, procurement, and occupational health services, among others. In FY2015, PSC made $479 billion in grant payments, representing approximately 80 percent of all grant payments made by the federal government.
“As the largest multi-function shared service provider to the federal government, PSC is excited to serve our customers from our new Salt Lake City satellite office,” said Paul S. Bartley, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Program Support at HHS. “The historic Moss building offers PSC staff a one-of-a-kind office in the heart of a thriving and vibrant downtown Salt Lake City. PSC looks forward to growing this office with more than 100 hires anticipated through next year.”
PSC, headquartered in Bethesda, Md., is relocating multiple operations to Utah as a result of PSC’s efforts for nationwide consolidation to increase efficiency and collaboration. Ten regional locations will be consolidated into this new Salt Lake City office to support customers nationwide. Operations and necessary renovations of the historic Frank E. Moss Courthouse started in September. PSC’s Federal Occupational Health (FOH) clinic is located in the nearby Bennett Building three blocks from the Moss Building.
PSC plans to be completely staffed and fully operational by December 2016. The Salt Lake City satellite office will employ a wide variety of professionals to provide support services to agencies across the federal government.
