MO: St. Charles Pharmaceutical Services Lab, Eurofins Panlabs Growing

Dec 21, 2015

The Missouri Department of Economic Development announced that Eurofins Panlabs, a Eurofins company, is expanding both its business and workforce in St. Charles. This growth includes adding 10 new high-paying jobs.

“This is good news for Missouri, and these added jobs are just one part of the rich bioscience and tech ecosystem in the area,” said Mike Downing, director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. “We’re of course pleased that Eurofins is harnessing the power of this ecosystem for their growth.”

The growth brings the St. Charles-based company’s workforce to about 55. Eurofins Panlabs operations focus on discovery services for pharmaceutical clients to help predict drugs’ clinical effects. Globally, Eurofins is a leader in bio-analysis including food and pharmaceutical products testing.

Missouri is an established bioscience leader, and the company is tapping into the St. Louis region’s high concentration of world-class science talent to fill the new jobs, which are in disciplines such as biochemistry and biology.

“We need high-quality scientists from an array of disciplines, and our ability to attract these workers here is possible because of high-caliber institutions in the region such as Washington University, St. Louis University, University of Missouri and other regional universities,” said Christina Shasserre, senior vice president of Eurofins Pharma Discovery and Bioanalytics Services U.S. “We are excited about the opportunity to expand within the region while building our talent pool of scientific and support staff.”

Missouri’s reputation for biomedical advancement is bolstered by its abundant and highly educated labor pool and its 47 Life Science Research Centers and Incubators.

Eurofins worked with the St. Louis Regional Chamber to help the expansion happen.

"This expansion underscores the strength of the growing bioscience sector in the St. Louis region," said Joe Reagan, president and CEO of the St. Louis Regional Chamber.  "Eurofins is a global leader in food and environmental testing services and we are thrilled to be helping them make this expansion happen."

To assist Eurofins with its expansion in St. Charles, the Missouri Department of Economic Development has offered a strategic economic incentive package that the company can receive if it meets strict job creation criteria.
