IL: Nutrisystem to Open New Frozen Warehouse in Troy, Hiring up to 70
7 Mar, 2016
Nutrisystem, a leading provider of weight management products and services, announced the opening of a new warehouse in Troy, Illinois. Through an agreement with long- standing distribution and fulfillment partner of more than a decade OHL, a leading third-party logistics provider, the 40,000 square feet of warehouse space will increase operational and logistical efficiency and decrease shipping time.
With the increased popularity of the Nutrisystem Uniquely Yours program, which gives customers the ability to choose the largest selection of frozen options, more warehouse space was needed to meet consumer demand. The new space allows Nutrisystem to increase its capacity by 60% and expand its production line to support additional SKU counts. In addition, 99% of customers will now receive their orders within two business days of the order leaving the warehouse as opposed to 80% of customers today.
“Our goal is to provide cost-effective supply chain solutions that at the same time deliver high levels of customer service and satisfaction,” said David Burton, Senior Vice President Operations & GM, Retail at Nutrisystem. “With the addition of this sixth warehouse, we’re able to operate more efficiently and improve the overall customer experience by getting more product out the door and to the customer more quickly.”
The Troy facility is now fully operational and added 50 to 70 new jobs to the local community. It also sets the stage for continued retail expansion as well as the re-launch of the South Beach Diet brand, which Nutrisystem acquired in December 2015.
In addition to this warehouse, Nutrisystem also has three warehouses in Allentown, Bethlehem and Chambersburg in Pennsylvania, and two warehouses in Sparks, Nevada.
OHL is one of the largest 3PLs in the world, providing integrated global supply chain management solutions including transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, freight forwarding, and import and export consulting services. OHL was recently acquired by GEODIS, a subsidiary of SNCF Logistics and a global European logistics provider. GEODIS employs over 30,000 with presence in more than 67 countries. OHL operates more than 120 value added distribution centers in North America, offers comprehensive transportation management and freight forwarding services, employs over 10,000, and has 34 brokerage and agent offices worldwide.
