This morning Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin learned of Macy's latest step toward opening its new $150 million distribution center in Martinsburg, W.Va. The retail giant is now accepting job applications for its new facility, which will soon be responsible for fulfilling online orders for the eastern United States.
"People in the Martinsburg area now have the opportunity to apply for these stable good-paying jobs." Gov. Tomblin said. "I know I, along with the folks in that area, have eagerly waited for this day since the groundbreaking ceremony last year. What began with a wealth of construction jobs is now transitioning into full-time positions in the facility itself. Macy's anticipates job growth through the holidays."
Once the distribution center is open, Macy's expects to employ 1,200 full-time workers and an additional 700 seasonal workers.
"I have been told people are driving up to the construction site with resumes in hand-that's how excited West Virginians are for the opportunity to work for this exceptional company," Gov. Tomblin said. "Applicants, including those seeking specialty executive positions, should apply online."
Macy's is accepting applications online at www.macysjobs.com. Interviews will begin next month and hiring will commence in April.
