NAM: America COMPETES Act Will Improve Competitiveness

Dec 18, 2010
Vital for U.S. Leadership in Innovation, Technology and STEM Education

National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO John Engler issued the following statement after the Senate passed the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2010 (H.R. 5116):

“Manufacturers are very pleased the COMPETES Act has passed the Senate and is now on its way to be signed into law by President Obama. Our economic future relies more than ever on our ability to innovate, and the reauthorization of the COMPETES Act will help manufacturers prosper in a globally integrated and highly competitive marketplace.

The COMPETES Act reauthorizes critical programs ranging from federal funding for R&D to vital education grants, which will aid manufacturers and enhance their competitiveness. The NAM thanks the members of Congress who supported this important legislation, and we urge President Obama to sign the bill into law as soon as possible.”
