MD: Fabricated Extrusion Co. to Open Hagerstown Mfg/HQ Facility, Add 50 Jobs

May 17, 2018

Fabricated Extrusion Company, a provider of custom extrusion manufacturing services throughout the United States, is establishing its East Coast presence by opening a headquarters and manufacturing facility in Hagerstown. The company, which has roots to the inventor of PVC more than 60 years ago, plans to create 50 new full-time positions in Washington County by the end of 2022.

Fabricated Extrusion Company (FEC) is among the first out-of-state companies to submit a notice of intent and enroll its project in the More Jobs for Marylanders program, which was the centerpiece of Governor Larry Hogan’s 2017 Maryland Jobs Initiative, incentivizing manufacturers to create new jobs in the state.

“Expanding our manufacturing facility to Hagerstown gives FEC the opportunity to better service the East Coast,” said Jeff Aichele, president of Fabricated Extrusion Company. “Hagerstown specifically is uniquely positioned in terms of convenient transportation access and a talented workforce, along with local resources and support for new businesses. We are excited about the opportunity to utilize these resources and develop a partnership with the community.”

Fabricated Extrusion provides custom profile and sheet thermoplastic extrusions for numerous industries, including agriculture, construction, light rail and transit, medical, refrigeration, technology, and transportation, among others. The company prides itself on having the ability to custom-mix compounds and design extrusion tooling to meet specifications and shortened lead-times through decades of experience and a disciplined iterative design process.

“Fabricated Extrusion Company’s decision to locate their East Coast operations in Maryland and add 50 new jobs is great news for Washington County and Maryland,” said Governor Hogan. “Our More Jobs for Marylanders program continues to attract new companies to our state, and along with our highly educated workforce and strategic location, offers a tremendous advantage to manufacturers.”

“Working with our partners in Washington County, we are proud to welcome Fabricated Extrusion Company to Maryland,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “We continue to be focused on providing our citizens with good jobs and a strong economy, and seeing national companies like Fabricated Extrusion choose to invest in our state is a great example of the progress we are making.”

To assist with project costs, the Maryland Department of Commerce has approved a $166,667 conditional loan through the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund (MEDAAF). Additionally, Washington County will provide a $50,000 conditional loan based on the creation of new jobs. The company is also eligible for various tax credits including the state’s Job Creation Tax Credit.

“We are very pleased that Fabricated Extrusion has chosen to join our expanding manufacturing community, further diversifying the county’s economy,” said Kassie Lewis, director of business development for Washington County. “I would be remiss if I did not note that one of our existing companies, which provided an endorsement of doing business in Washington County, was instrumental in FEC locating here. Successful economic development is the product of teamwork; our resident companies are a vital part of the team.”
