Design Ready Controls Inc., a manufacturer of electrical control panels for original equipment manufacturers in the HVAC, oil and gas, water and alternative energy markets, plans to add 25 jobs in a $9.5 million expansion of its Minnesota operations.
The company, currently based in northeast Minneapolis, plans to build a 100,000-square-foot facility in Brooklyn Park that will consolidate its office and warehouse/production space. The new jobs will pay an average wage of $18.26 an hour.
To help Design Ready Controls with the expansion, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) awarded the company $460,744 from the Minnesota Job Creation Fund. Design Ready Controls will receive the funding after meeting its hiring and investment goals.
“Design Ready Controls is an innovative company that is growing throughout North America,” said DEED Deputy Commissioner Kevin McKinnon. “The company’s upcoming expansion and the addition of 25 good-paying manufacturing jobs is great news for Brooklyn Park and the state.”
Design Ready Controls Inc., which was founded in 1989, also has manufacturing facilities in Rockford, Minn.; Wilsonville, Ore.; Richmond, Va.; and Oklahoma City, Okla. The Rockford operations will be consolidated to the new Minneapolis facility.
The Job Creation Fund, which was first proposed by Gov. Mark Dayton in 2013, is a pay-for-performance program that provides funding to businesses after they meet certain criteria, including minimum requirements for job creation and private investments. Under the program, businesses must create at least 10 full-time jobs and invest at least $500,000 to be eligible for financial assistance.
Since the Job Creation Fund was launched in January 2014, DEED has awarded $14.9 million to 29 companies in Minnesota. Those companies have committed to creating nearly 1,600 full-time jobs and plan to invest nearly $270 million to expand.
