Feb 19, 2013

Procter and Gamble, headquartered in Cincinnati, OH, and the largest consumer packaged goods company in the world, has announced a major expansion of its manufacturing facilities in Greensboro, NC. P&G will invest over $100 million, and create an additional 200 jobs in Greensboro over the next 3 years.

Jim Phillips, Chair of the Greensboro Economic Development Alliance’s Operating Group commented, “this is fantastic news for Greensboro, I know for a fact that the Greensboro City Council and Guilford County Board of Commissioners came together to send a strong message to the P&G leadership team – we want you to continue to invest and grow in Greensboro.”

Dan Lynch, President of the Greensboro Economic Development Alliance says, “helping to bring this expansion to Greensboro was a wonderful experience, working together with the company, our economic development team representing Greensboro Economic Development Alliance, the City of Greensboro, Guilford County, and the NC DOC assessed P&G’s requirements and quickly responded to site and building regulatory issues, workforce identification and training programs, and guided the company through the state and local incentive process.” Lynch also noted, “This is another example of an existing business that has affirmed the fact that operating out of Greensboro is a valuable part of their company’s strategy for success. Greensboro is a great place for business.”

Salaries will vary by job function, but the average annual wage for these new jobs is projected to be $52,000, which is 24% higher than the Guilford county average of $42,000.

A member of the Greensboro Partnership, Greensboro Economic Development Alliance’s mission is to facilitate the creation of high quality jobs, attract new capital investment, retain and expand existing businesses, improve per capita income and generally improve the quality of life in Greensboro and Guilford County.
