Specialized Component Parats Ltd., Inc. to Expand; Create 30 New Jobs; Invest $2.6M

Furnace Parts Manufacturer to Expand its Auburn Operations Heating system parts manufacturer, Specialized Component Parts Limited, Inc. (SCP) announced it will expand its operations here, creating 30 new jobs by 2012. The company, which has been in the residential and commercial heating parts business for over 20 years, will invest more than $2.6 million in machinery, equipment and building upgrades to expand its facility located at 1700 South Indiana Avenue. SCP specializes in heating element parts for residential and commercial furnaces and makes a variety of pilot lights, relays, electrodes and hot surface igniters. "Home-grown companies like SCP are the foundation of economic growth for our state and we are pleased to see them capture new business opportunities during today's challenging economy," said Governor Mitch Daniels. The company recently identified an opportunity to in-source work currently being done overseas which will more than double its 20-person workforce. The company has already begun hiring engineers and material scientists. "We are incredibly excited and thankful for our growth and what is happening right now at SCP. God is certainly smiling on us," said Jim Buchanan, president and chief executive officer at Specialized Component Parts. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Specialized Component Parts Limited up to $250,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $15,500 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. The city of Auburn will consider additional property tax abatement at the request of the DeKalb County Economic Development Partnership. "We are delighted that SCP has decided to expand their operation by bringing work to Auburn from overseas. This decision reinforces our ability to provide quality, competitive products in the manufacturing sector," said Auburn Mayor Norman Yoder. Specialized Component Parts' announced expansion in DeKalb County follows the May announcement that Metal Technologies Auburn (MTA), a manufacturer of gray iron castings, will expand its Auburn operations, adding 32 new jobs and $1.5 million in investment. In March, commercial and residential door manufacturer, Therma-Tru Doors, announced that it would invest more than $5 million to expand its Butler, Ind. manufacturing operations, creating more than 150 new jobs.
