18 Oct, 2016
EuWe Eugen Wexler US Plastics, Inc., a subsidiary of the Germany-based EuWe Group, is expanding manufacturing operations in Anderson County. The automotive supplier has decided to invest an additional $5 million in its Upstate facility, which is located off of I-85 at Alliance Industrial Park in Anderson, S.C. This new project is expected to result in the creation of 29 new jobs over the next five years.
Established in 1968 as a supplier of only metal products, the EuWe Group has grown tremendously since its inception. In 1970, the company expanded its production offerings to include plastic parts. Then, in 1993, the EuWe Group established its first international operations with a facility in Mexico. Today, the firm employs more than 1,700 workers in three countries and exclusively supplies the automotive industry. It boasts a client list featuring 10 of the world's largest automobile manufacturers.
In 2015, the company announced an $11 million investment to create its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Anderson County. This new $5 million project will complement the original investment, allowing EuWe to meet increased demand from its customers. The Anderson County operations focus solely on the production of automotive plastic interior parts.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $100,000 Set Aside grant to Anderson County to assist with the costs of real property improvements.
"EuWe still is in the preparation and ramp-up phase of its new facility in the United States, supporting our main customer, BMW. We were extremely excited having already been awarded additional business prior to our actual launch of our production. This enabled us to increase the size and set-up of our operations and to create even more new jobs right here in Anderson County. Being a company that is still managed by the founding family and always plans for the long run, we are confident to make this endeavor a success as well." -EuWe Eugen Wexler US Plastics, Inc. CEO Markus Gosse
"It's always exciting when a company decides to double down on its commitment to our state and to our people. We were thrilled last year when the EuWe Group announced that it would be locating its first U.S. facility here, and we're even more excited today because this $5 million investment shows that companies of all kinds can find success and thrive in South Carolina." -Gov. Nikki Haley
"As the nation's leader in the export of completed passenger vehicles, South Carolina continues to prove to the world that we are a force to be reckoned with on the global automotive stage. Announcements like the one today from the EuWe Group will help ensure that the Palmetto State remains an automotive powerhouse for many years to come." -Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt
"In 2015, Anderson County welcomed EuWe Eugen Wexler to our community. Today, EuWe announces an additional $5 million expansion to their project and the creation of 29 more jobs, strengthening their intent to make Anderson County their home for many years to come." -Anderson County Council Chairman Tommy Dunn
