LA: Ampirical Solutions to Add 50 Jobs, Retain 80 with Expansion
1 Sep, 2016
Gov. John Bel Edwards and President Matthew Saacks of Ampirical Solutions LLC announced the company will create 50 new direct jobs to expand its electrical transmission infrastructure and distribution firm in St. Tammany Parish. Based in Mandeville, Louisiana, the company specializes in the design of substations, relay switchyards, protective relays and controls, transmission lines, distribution lines and related operations.
The 50 new direct jobs created by Ampirical in the expansion will have an average annual salary of $85,206, plus benefits, while the company also will retain 80 existing jobs. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in 82 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 130 new jobs in St. Tammany Parish and the Southeast Region.
“This homegrown company is bringing dozens of technical, high-paying jobs to Mandeville and the region with this expansion,” Gov. John Bel Edwards said. “Ampirical Solutions identified a market niche a decade ago and has grown to become an industry leader in designing electrical infrastructure for utilities and governments. This project demonstrates the value of Louisiana’s ongoing efforts to provide a skilled and ready workforce for business and industry.”
Ampirical provides a broad range of engineering and related services to the electrical transmission infrastructure marketplace. The company’s target market has continually grown since its founding in 2006, but recent economic and industry factors have driven spending in the national transmission and distribution infrastructure to record highs. Ampirical’s customers include investor-owned utilities, municipalities, industrial plants, electrical co-ops and independent power producers.
“Our desire is to demonstrate the ability of highly technical companies to grow and flourish in this state,” Saacks said. “Accelerated hiring is critical for Ampirical to compete for the talent it needs to continue its success in executing projects. Ampirical offers prime careers for engineering professionals and related jobs, such as project managers, designers and drafters. Furthermore, Louisiana has strong numbers of both experienced talent and college graduates to staff our growing workforce.”
LED began discussions with Ampirical about the potential expansion project in May 2016. The company plans to utilize the workforce solutions of LED FastStart® – the nation’s No. 1 state workforce development program – as well as the state’s Quality Jobs Program.
“Mandeville is happy to have Ampirical Solutions as part of our business community,” Mandeville Mayor Donald Villere said. “We are fortunate to attract strong companies in a professional industry segment. Companies like Ampirical Solutions add value to the community and improve everyone’s quality of life.”
Ampirical recently was named in Inc. magazine’s 5000 Fastest-Growing Private U.S. Companies for the third time in five years. The company marked its 10th anniversary earlier this year and was selected as a Top Workplace in the New Orleans area by nola.com/The Times-Picayune.
“The high-wage jobs created by Ampirical Solution’s expansion enrich the exceptional quality of life in our parish, and we are thrilled that our long-term, ongoing relationship with this economic driver company has resulted in their exciting announcement,” said CEO Brenda Bertus of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation. “STEM companies such as Ampirical Solutions thrive in St. Tammany, where the number of STEM jobs has doubled in the last decade, and we anticipate their continued success as they renew their investment in this community.”
