Governor Tom Corbett announced that Thorley Industries, LLC, doing business as 4moms, has expanded its operations and acquired additional space to support new growth, adding 75 jobs at its facility in the city of Pittsburgh.
“The 4moms success story is one of many in Pittsburgh that is creating and protecting family sustaining jobs,” Corbett said. “As a result of our continued commitment to improving our business climate, 4moms will grow by 75 jobs, nearly tripling their workforce.”
4moms, a manufacturer of innovative robotics technology products for infants and juveniles, has acquired additional space for its operations to accommodate the company’s overwhelming growth.
The total cost of the project, which included the purchase of new equipment and employee training, is $1 million. The expansion has retained 25 jobs and will create more than 75 jobs due to the vast growth of this company.

The company received a funding offer from the Department of Community and Economic Development including a $200,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant and $75,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits.
The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, or GAT, a group of economic development professionals who work directly with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania. GAT worked with the local Industrial Resource Center (IRCs), Catalyst Connection, to support 4moms’ expansion project. The IRCs receive annual commonwealth funding to provide an array of technical assistance to small- and medium-sized manufacturers in Pennsylvania.
“4Moms is a great example of the technology and entrepreneurship that is evolving out of the Pittsburgh region,” Art Tintori from Catalyst Connection said. “They have fused robotic technology with practical solutions in safe, cool child products. They are becoming a world leader and making life simpler for modern parents.”
Founded in 2005, Thorley Industries, LLC, which does business as 4moms, designs, develops, and markets innovative robotics technology products, including: strollers, infant seats, infant tubs and car seats.
Located in the Strip District in the City of Pittsburgh, 4moms sells products in 500 retailers in the United States, has distribution in 23 countries, and has been featured on nationally televised programs as NBC’s “Today” show and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Pennsylvania tech employment currently ranks seventh in the nation and added 3,500 new jobs within the state last year, according to the latest edition of TechAmerica Foundation’s Cyberstates study.
Pittsburgh also received recognition from Mashable when the city was recently named one of the top 15 cities for tech start up investments.
