Accenture is opening a delivery center in Austin, Texas, to provide software development and support as well as consulting and technology services for the company’s health and public sector work across North America.
The center is targeted to grow to around 300 jobs by the end of 2013, which would bring the number of Accenture employees in Texas to more than 5,000. The company has other Texas offices in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
“Accenture has been growing in Texas for many years, and this expansion in Austin is being driven by our success in helping state health and human service agencies around the country leverage cost-effective, leading-edge technology to modernize their IT systems and improve productivity,” said Stephen J. Rohleder, the Austin-based group chief executive of Accenture’s Health & Public Service operating group. “We are focused on helping public agencies seize transformative opportunities to improve citizen services while adapting to budget realities. We have worked with the state of Texas for over 30 years and Austin is key to our efforts to leverage technology and software to meet government needs.”

In recent years, Accenture has developed and launched a flexible, service-based technology platform and software applications to enable public agencies to upgrade or replace legacy IT systems in an integrated, flexible manner to reduce technology and management costs and improve service delivery. The new software products to be supported by the Austin center include the Accenture Public Service Platform, the Accenture Benefits Management System, the Accenture Citizen Self-Service Portal and the Accenture Public Health Platform.
Accenture Integrated Social Services combine process and technology advancements to support the core missions of human service agencies.

As part of Accenture’s Skills to Succeed initiative, which is working with nonprofit organizations to equip 500,000 people worldwide by 2015 with skills to get a job or build a business, the new Center will partner with KIPP Austin to provide mentoring, workshops and internship opportunities for high school students. Accenture also partners with the Wounded Warrior Project in San Antonio to support job and business skills development for military veterans.
