The Alabama Department of Commerce has expanded its global presence with a new business development office in Seoul, South Korea, strengthening one of the state’s most important international partnerships.
Commerce has selected Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) — South Korea’s largest professional services firm — to represent Alabama. The team, led by Sean Blakeley and Carol Yelim Choo, will focus on Korean investment opportunities and support for Alabama exporters.
“South Korea has been a cornerstone of Alabama’s economic success for more than two decades,” said Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair. “Establishing a permanent presence in Seoul will strengthen these ties and position Alabama for even greater success.”
Korean companies have invested $9.6 billion in Alabama since 1999, led by Hyundai Motor Group and its suppliers. The new Seoul office joins Alabama’s existing international representation in Germany and Japan.
