AL: McCallum Sweeney Consulting's Client Dollar General Selects Bessemer for new Distribution Center

Mar 28, 2011

McCallum Sweeney Consulting’s client Dollar General has selected Bessemer, Alabama, as the location for its newest Distribution Center. The project is expected to represent a capital investment of $60 million and employ 550 people. Additional employment of 100 is expected from a dedicated fleet operator. This will be the 10th distribution center in the Dollar General logistics network.

Dollar General, headquartered in Goodlettsville, TN, is the nation’s largest small-box discount retailer. The company ranks among the largest retailers of top-quality brands made by America’s most-trusted manufacturers, such as Procter & Gamble, Kimberly Clark, Unilever, Kellogg’s, General Mills and Nabisco.

McCallum Sweeney Consulting (MSC) provided community evaluations, labor market assessments, and incentive negotiation services to Dollar General for this effort. The search region covered two southeastern US states.
