Auto Supplier Plastech to Break Ground on $50MM 294,000 sq. ft. Facility

Auto supplier Plastech Engineered Product Inc. will break ground Friday on its $50 million, 294,000-square-foot plant at McCalla's Jefferson Metropolitan Park. The facility will employ about 400 people when fully operational.

Plastech officials, developers, corporate business leaders and various public officials are scheduled to attend the 11 a.m. ceremony.

One of the nation's largest minority-owned original equipment manufacturers, Dearborn, Mich.-based Plastech will produce interior and exterior plastic components for Mercedes-Benz US International Inc.'s plant in Tuscaloosa County.

The plant also will serve other OEM customers.
