Popular grocery chain Trader Joe's announced it is opening eight new locations this year, on top of stores that were previously announced. The latest stores will be in a number of states: California, Washington, Illinois, New Jersey, Louisiana and Utah.
Opening dates were not available, but a spokesperson told Nexstar that it usually takes between three to six months for stores to open. The spokesperson said, “We are actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the country as we hope to open more new neighborhood stores each year.”
Trader Joe’s has opened two locations already this year in Miller Place, New York, and another in Hamden, Connecticut. Grocery Dive reported that the chain planned to open more than 20 locations this year, according to the company. This comes after the company opened 34 stores in 2024 and 43 stores in 2025.
According to a poll of 31,000 customers by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), Trader Joe’s was ranked the best grocery chain for customer satisfaction in the United States. Customer satisfaction is measured by several factors, such as meat and produce quality, convenience of store hours, and cleanliness.
