CA: App Maker Strava Expands Headquarters in San Francisco and Grows Its Global Office Footprint

Jan 28, 2026

Strava, the app for active people, announced the expansion of its global headquarters at 181 Fremont Street, one of San Francisco’s tallest buildings, which will now include Strava signage on the exterior. Less than a year after establishing its presence in the building, Strava has added additional floors, totaling approximately 85,000 square feet, to support the company’s continued growth and expanding global operations.

The headquarters expansion builds on strong momentum in 2025, a year marked by rapid product innovation and community growth. Over the past year, Strava introduced more than 100 new features, surpassed 180 million users worldwide, and continued to evolve its platform to serve athletes across 50+ sport types. The platform's appeal also continues to strengthen, particularly with younger athletes: according to Strava's 2025 Year in Sport Trend Report, more than half of Gen Z plans to use Strava more in 2026, while most say they'll use Instagram and TikTok the same amount or less.

“This is an exciting moment for Strava,” said Michael Martin, chief executive officer, Strava. “As our community continues to grow, we’re investing in the spaces and teams that help us move faster, collaborate more closely, and keep building products that serve athletes around the world. Expanding our San Francisco headquarters—and continuing to grow in key global hubs—reflects our long-term commitment to our people and our mission.”

Growing in Key Global Hubs

Strava's investment in its San Francisco headquarters is part of a broader effort to expand its presence in key markets critical to the company's growth and talent strategy. Later this year the company will close its Boston office in order to centralize and grow its larger New York hub. The company recently opened an office in São Paolo and is actively pursuing expanded office space in New York City and London, strengthening its footprint in major global markets.

“As Strava grows, we’re focused on creating environments where teams can do their best work and feel connected to one another,” said Michele Bousquet, chief people officer. “Investing in our offices is an investment in our people, and in the company’s continued growth.”

These expanded offices will support Strava’s growing teams and enable closer collaboration as the company continues to scale its platform and global operations.
