CO: Bioriginal to Open Softgel Facility in Grand Junction, Creating at Least 20 Jobs

Apr 06, 2026

Canadian nutritional ingredient manufacturer Bioriginal Food & Science Corp. plans to expand into the United States with a new operation in Grand Junction. The company said the move will increase manufacturing activity and support job growth as it expands production for customers in the western United States.

Bioriginal, headquartered in Saskatoon, Canada, produces nutritional supplements including softgels, tinctures and bulk ingredients for human and pet markets. The expansion includes the acquisition of Grand Junction-based Softgel Co., which will serve as a U.S. production facility.

The company plans to invest about $2 million in 2026 to upgrade the facility for softgel production and expand capacity. The project is expected to create at least 20 jobs over eight years.

Gov. Jared Polis said the project will add jobs in western Colorado. “I am excited to welcome Canadian based Bioriginal to expand in western Colorado, creating good-paying rural jobs,” Polis said.

State officials approved a Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit tied to job creation and wage requirements. The incentive provides a state income tax credit equal to 50% of FICA taxes paid per net new job during the credit period.

Company officials said the Grand Junction location offers an existing manufacturing site and workforce. Chad Stephens, plant manager at Softgel Co., said the expansion will allow the company to increase production capacity and serve more U.S. customers.

The company worked with the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and the Grand Junction Economic Partnership on the project.
