CO: Southwest Windpower Opens Additional Facility in Broomfield

Southwest Windpower, the world's leading manufacturer of distributed generation wind turbines, announced Dec. 1, 2011, the opening of an additional location in Broomfield, Colo. The Flagstaff, Ariz.-based company is opening the additional facility to focus on development of a wind testing site and commercial sales.

The new office is part of the company's shift toward providing renewable energy systems worldwide for commercial and industrial markets such as telecommunications, village electrification and other large multiple-unit projects. The Broomfield engineering facility and sales team will focus on product development for the specific technical needs of these types of sites. Previously, the company focused on smaller-scale applications for residences or small businesses.

The Broomfield office will be located at 100 Technology Drive, within the Interlocken business park. It is anticipated that the location will be staffed by year-end. The location's proximity to the National Wind Technology Center, run by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where the company will have a test site, was a factor in the site selection, as was assistance by Broomfield city and county governments. Additionally, a major investor in the company, Altira Group, is based in Denver.

Southwest Windpower's manufacturing facility, customer support and residential sales units will continue to operate out of its Flagstaff, Ariz., location.
