FL: Amazon Opens 'First-Mile' Fulfillment Center in Daytona Beach, Creating More Than 1,000 Jobs

Oct 09, 2025

Amazon recently opened its third fulfillment center within Volusia County, Fla. The new facility, known as Amazon Fulfillment Center DAB2, is in Daytona Beach and is expected to employ more than 1,000 workers.

Amazon Fulfillment Center DAB2 is a 630,000-square-foot robotics facility that can hold up to 30 million items. Once fully operational, DAB2 will have the capability to ship more than 800,000 packages a day. Robotics are used to move stored items and do some of the sorting.

DAB2 General Manager Andrew Jaworski says he expects the fulfillment center to be fully operational before the end of the year.

DAB2 is a “first-mile” fulfillment center—where the order journey begins. “As soon as you hit that buy button on Amazon.com, we get that order here," Jaworski says. "We pick it, pack it, ship it out to you and it either goes to one of our middle-mile facilities or last-mile facilities to get it to your house.” This is Amazon’s second facility in Daytona Beach, joining a “last mile” delivery station on Mason Avenue.

Jaworski says the building has advanced safety systems and ergonomic safety programs to “protect our people on a daily basis.”

Amazon announced a $20,000 donation to the FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools. The organization is a non-profit that supports the county schools. The donation is earmarked for STEM teens in the current school year.

Daytona Beach City Manager Deric C. Feacher agreed Amazon’s interest in Daytona is creating business leads for the city. “There are other entities that are looking at us, not only from the Amazon type market, but from hospitality and accommodations that I think will be significant,” Mr. Feacher said.

The planning for DAB2 had spanned many years. The collective resources of Volusia County, the CEO Business Alliance, the City of Daytona Beach, Daytona International Speedway, Team Volusia, Volusia County Economic Development and the owner of the property, NASCAR, helped bring DAB2 to the finish line, reports HometownNews.
