Grocery chain Trader Joe's will open a new store, its first, in Brevard County, Fla. The location could be open to the public as early as March. The company says it will open a new store at The Avenue Viera, taking over the space formerly occupied by Michael’s craft store.
The closest stores currently are in Orlando and Winter Park, with another one in the works for Daytona Beach.
Trader Joe’s has developed a devoted fan base nationwide, thanks to its affordable private-label goods, unique seasonal offerings, and friendly customer service. In addition, The Space Coast Daily reported that the company recently added “Melbourne” to the “Coming Soon” section of its website.
Rumors of Trader Joe’s arrival began circulating in March after a building permit application tied to the retailer was filed with Brevard County. Speculation grew stronger in July when Michael’s closed its doors and signs appeared on the windows hinting at a new tenant, and a permit approval cleared the way for renovations to begin.
While Trader Joe’s has not yet announced an opening date, new Trader Joe’s locations typically open about six months after appearing on the company’s “coming soon” list, says The Space Coast Daily.
