Siemens Energy announced that it will invest $131 million to expand its operations throughout Florida, including a new workspace in the Lake Nona community in Orlando, the continued growth of the Innovation Center Orlando and expanded manufacturing in the Tampa area, reports the Sanford Herald.
“Florida has been home for Siemens Energy in the United States for decades and our expansion here is an essential part of our mission to deliver energy throughout the nation,” said Matt Neal, Siemens Energy’s President of North America. “We are making the equipment that this country needs to satisfy our energy demand today and investing in the research and development of new technologies that will guide our energy use in the next century and beyond.”
Siemens Energy has had a significant presence in Orlando for more than 40 years, with a campus near the University of Central Florida. More than 3,000 employees work there across two buildings and other local facilities. The new workspace in Lake Nona will span 242,000 square feet and is designed with energy efficiency in mind.
Siemens Energy’s Innovation Center Orlando is the first and largest of its kind and bolsters the company’s research and development capabilities. Expansion there will include building an artificial intelligence digital grid technologies laboratory with NVIDIA.
Siemens Energy is also expanding its facility in Gibsonton which manufactures blades and vanes – essential parts for gas turbine. Siemens Energy also announced today that it will resume gas turbine manufacturing in Charlotte after a six-year pause.
Today’s announcement is part of a $1 billion investment by Siemens Energy in manufacturing in the United States where the company is helping to deliver more power to more Americans and strengthen the US energy supply chain. Simultaneous announcements of new and expanded manufacturing were made today in Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama, New York and Texas.
