The Georgia Department of Economic Development announced today that SwissTex America celebrated the grand opening of its North American headquarters in Dalton in Whitfield County. SwissTex America is the product of two European companies that joined together and absorbed the Dalton company initially known as PrimeTex Technology. The new headquarters operation will create 15 new jobs, and allow for a $1.2 million investment.
“We welcome SwissTex America to Georgia as Dalton works aggressively to diversify the industry base in that community,” said Gov. Nathan Deal. “SwissTex will find Georgia and Whitfield County to be a strategic home for its North American headquarters. As a global hub for logistics, Georgia can provide the company with efficient access to its clients here in our country and in markets where SwissTex does business worldwide.”
The SwissTex group produces equipment for complete yarn extrusion plants in Switzerland, and in France, produces twisting machinery for the global fiber industry. Many of the group’s American clients are in the carpet industry, but the company also supplies equipment for making technical yarns, such as those used in flame retardant material and tire cord, as well as glass fibers.
“Dalton and Whitfield County have been very welcoming to SwissTex,” said SwissTex America president Elichai Hoenig. “Our initial company, PrimeTex, located here in 2006 after extensive meetings with the local economic development office, and we still feel that support. The location is excellent from a logistics standpoint – our business continues growing and we feel a part of this community. We’re glad to be here and pleased to expand our offerings.”
At the company’s Dalton operations, SwissTex America will provide equipment, technology, parts and field service to companies throughout North America. Field technicians and customer service representatives will visit manufacturers throughout North America. The company also maintains a broad inventory of replacement parts for quick delivery to customers in the U.S. and Canada. SwissTex relies on the expertise of local and European engineers to serve the needs of its clients.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) collaborated with the Dalton-Whitfield Joint Development Authority to secure this business opportunity for Georgia. GDEcD regional project manager Carl Campbell managed the project on behalf of the state.
