IL: Packaging Company J.L. Clark Announces Major Investment in Rockford Facility

Jul 31, 2025

J.L. Clark, an industry-leading supplier of high-quality custom metal and plastic packaging, announced a bold new chapter for its Rockford headquarters: a more than $10 million investment in new high-speed equipment and an increase in workforce capacity by 40% over the next year, with a mix of salary, hourly, and temporary positions. The company currently employs 175 people in Rockford.

This investment supports J.L. Clark’s long-term growth plans and strengthens its position as the only premium consumer packaging company offering end-to-end capabilities — from coating and printing to metal fabrication and plastic packaging — all under one roof. With over 120 years of history in Rockford, the company has remained deeply rooted in the community while maintaining a competitive edge in the packaging industry.

“Our investment in Rockford represents a commitment to innovation, growth, sustainability, and ensuring J.L. Clark continues to thrive for the next 120 years,” said Robert Morris, President of J.L. Clark. “Our deep roots in this city make this investment especially meaningful. We’re incredibly proud to invest in the future of both our company and the Rockford community, continuing a legacy and building a stronger future together.”

Unveiled during a press conference alongside Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara, the announcement marks a major commitment not only to the company’s continued innovation and growth, but also to the city of Rockford and state of Illinois.

“This announcement is more than just economic development — it’s a powerful vote of confidence in our city, our workforce, and our future,” said Tom McNamara, Mayor of Rockford. “J.L. Clark is investing in the people who make Rockford such an economically vibrant and highly attractive place to do business, and we couldn’t be prouder to welcome the talented workers who will help fill these new jobs in Rockford.”

Morris and Mayor McNamara were also joined by Jaime J. Salgado, Ward 11 Alderman, and Sarah Leys, Rockford Director of Community and Economic Development.
